The Facts on Magnesium Stearate
A few companies and some alternative health “professionals” have fostered interest in the sense inert fluid agent used in dietary supplements known as magnesium stearate. In each case the motivation appears to be one of promoting their own products-typically products lacking in actual quality of the ingredients for the price being charged. As a leading expert on the subject of dietary supplement quality I have written this brief review to set the record straight and point out the flagrant misrepresentation behind such assertions. Magnesium stearate is a magnesium salt containing stearic acid. Stearic acid is a 18 carbon long saturated fat, common in our food supply. Readily metabolized in oleic acid (monounsaturated fat olive oil). Stearic acid is unique among all saturated fatty acids, and that does not raise LDL cholesterol levels. 10% - 12% cocoa fatty acid is stearic acid, one of the richest sources of stearic acid in the food supply. It’s easy to get 5 grams of stearic acid (5,000 mg) by eating a chocolate bar. In comparison, a capsule dietary supplement product typically contains between 1% - 2% stearic acid or 10 mg - 20 mg of stearic acid per capsule, or 1000 mg to 2000 mg per bottle (20% - 40% of a bar chocolate for the entire bottle). Stearic acid is a fatty acid common in meat, poultry, fish, cereals, eggs, butter and dairy products. In the flesh, which is 1/3 of saturated fat. This practice is mainly applied to the tablet manufacturer and is one of problems for the tablets tend not dissolve very well for many people. Products of the capsule are much easier to digest and absorb. I always spend the extra money on Vcaps (vegetable cellulose caps) and do not use bovine-derived gelatin capsules. I stay away from the manufacture of products in tablet form, as is common knowledge that often come through the entire digestive system - especially products that contain large amounts of minerals. I use as magnesium stearate little as possible when formulating products, usually 1%. We use USP grade stearates derived primarily from palm oil or other natural plant sources, suitable for vegetarian diets. These raw materials are tested standard U.S. Pharmacopeia (known as pharmaceutical grade - very pure). Companies that do not use magnesium stearate, industry standard can be hard-pressed to demonstrate that their vitamin capsules or tablets with a constant dose. The FDA is looking at this issue as part of its new guidelines of good manufacturing practices - as the quality and consistency of the filling and the legality of the label claims will come front and center for companies that are not achieving the products to be considered as good manufacturing practices. At this time, these companies can say whatever they want and not have to prove anything - times are changing. There is simply no known risk or technical reason not to use magnesium stearate in small quantities and appropriate for the production of dietary supplements. By contrast, when used correctly magnesium stearate helps to make a uniform and better product quality. What’s all this fuss? Bad magnesium stearate, articulating not just a sales pitch. It is very irresponsible. A review of the quality of the products of companies that make such claims often leaves much to be desired. If I were to compare the products of these companies using the articles on the quality of the products I’ve written, you will quickly see that there is much more under the hood of their products - however, prices are pulled nice and high for go along with the sales pitch. Other groups in this category are network marketing companies selling drastically overpriced fruit juice - a consumer fraud case. Then there are the manufacturers of liquid vitamins that would be very fortunate to be able to demonstrate that the liquid on your product has not neutralized the active nutrients within weeks of the mix, long before he would ever have the opportunity to drink, another the consumer fraud. The main “study” cited by this collection of anti-magnesium stearate con artists is a study of the cell 1990 entitled “Molecular basis of the immunosuppressive action of stearic acid on T cells.” Sure, the title sounds incriminating study. Under experimental conditions, would be so easy to expose the T cells with water and produce the same result. The reason the researchers did not do it because they were trying to figure out some kind of beverage that could be used as a new immunosuppressive drug for organ transplant patients. The study was obviously preliminary, and never meant nothing to the field that was intended to impress (as no drug in this line has been produced in the 19 years following the study). The absurd idea that this study has nothing to do with human health is simply absurd. Those using and quoting this study as “proof” that the magnesium stearate is a health problem is so deficient in integrity that all you are trying to push in which is of questionable value. The latest anti-magnesium stearate propaganda comes from several smooth-talking alternative health “professionals” (product sales hype specialists) who claim that the magnesium stearate form biofilms in the digestive tract and thus interferes with absorption of nutrients and even food. No proof is offered, their opinions. Almost comically, the current science says otherwise. Stearic acid actually helps prevent the formation of biofilms (click here to study). These people are hoping you will not know what or how a biofilm is formed or maintained. From the sounds of it, they do not understand the issue either intentionally or conning people - either way are not very bright. Biofilms are germ bands. They meet on the basis of a quorum sensing signal, like a bell tolling in the field telling farmers to come into town and pick up weapons and go to war. Biofilms in the digestive tract, such as Candida albicans biofilms or other bacterial biofilms are extremely problematic to human health. These biofilm gangs need a fuel source to maintain the reproduction and growth. This fuel source is never a saturated fat because there is no point of biochemical interaction in a saturated fat. For example, a Candida albicans biofilm fuels its reproduction based on the consumption of highly polyunsaturated fatty acids. This means that if you eat a bag of potato chips, corn chips or french fries and have a Candida biofilm, only poured gasoline on the fire. Candida inserts oxygen molecules in the unsaturated bonds of fatty acids (more unsaturated bonds the better from the standpoint of Candida) forming an inflammatory signal called a oxylipin highly toxic. Oxylipins reproductive factors are growth of the biofilm. It is technically impossible to insert an oxygen molecule in a saturated fat, so it is not possible for stearic acid to promote biofilm formation. The claim that stearic acid causes biofilms if a blatant lie. To promote a false concept casts serious doubt on the integrity and intelligence of the decisions and the transmission of these statements. The conclusion is that the magnesium stearate in dietary supplements is very safe and is an effective way to help produce the quality of dietary supplements. This has been demonstrated by decades of industrial use of dietary supplements and health benefits for millions of consumers. TV Review - Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse
I recently finished watching the first season of Joss Whedon’s “Dollhouse.” For those who do not know, the program focuses on an organization called the Dollhouse that provides dolls to wealthy clients for the purpose of the mission of the fantasy role-playing or multiple tasks. The dolls are young men and women who have been wiped-mind to anything and then implanted false memories and skills to suit the needs of each mission. When not on missions, the dolls have a simple mind cleared and kept in confinement underground utopia wrists are major Dollhouse.The Echo (Eliza Dushku), Victor (Enver Gjokaj) and Sierra (Dichen Lachman), with the main objective of Echo. As a result of all this techno-mind set, Echo has become a bit self-conscious and tends to follow in the task. I really liked, though. It was very nice to see a program that was unique and of such high quality. Dollhouse The world is so rich and alive, creating a visual experience there is usually no greater than the standard network fare.It was also fascinating to watch the actors who play with dolls. Changed personalities so quickly that it seemed no effort to change clothes. It was easy to believe these dolls could actually exist.Bottom line: “Dollhouse” is a great series and I hope season 2. High quality, highly original and beautiful output of standard network programming. You definitely have to watch TV!

The History Of The Black Panthers
In 1966, two young black men, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale, met on the campus of Merritt College in Oakland, California. Discovering that they shared with each other in frustration with police brutality, poverty and repression suffered by blacks in the community of Oakland, who founded an organization in an effort to fight. They called their new organization of the Black Panther Party for self defense. It differed from other groups of black rights at the time, they were almost all non-violent, which advocated armed defense and self-sufficiency for the liberation of black Americans. Newton and Seale believed that the traditions of nonviolent leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. erroneously focused on the integration of blacks and whites. This integration, they argue, show revolved around the whites that blacks were good enough, smart enough, not even human enough to “deserve” equality. In rejecting this idea, Seale and Newton said that blacks should focus on correcting the discrepancy in power, political and financial, that existed between whites and blacks.To it, Bobby Seale, along with a small group of followers totally armed, marched on the California State Legislature in May 1967 to protest a draft law on gun control have limited ability of blacks to arm themselves against police brutality and government. This bold act, along with the arrest in October of Huey Newton, for the alleged murder of a policeman, led the party to the national stage. The party changed its name to the Black Panther Party and began to form new branches across the country. Soon, the Panthers had their own newspaper, edited by Eldridge Cleaver, Minister of Information of the Party. It, and other forms of creation of the apparatus of media such as television, the Panthers perfected what would become a powerful propaganda machine. Joel Hanrahan has been removed as closer for the Washington Nationals. Julian Tavarez and Kip Wells could be part of the fence committee to try to get the job done. Brad Lidge could be looking at potential when the disabled list if his right knee does not improve. The pain is in the same knee he had surgery on two occasions before the start of the 2008 season.
